C. S. Lewis uncovered a remarkable record of correspondence between a junior demon (Wormwood) and his uncle (Screwtape). The original letters described the failure of Wormwood in his first assignment; at the end of the manuscript, we have a hint that Wormwood was devoured by his uncle. It now appears that this language was just a euphemism for his exile to America, where he eventually found success. This correspondence begins with his promotion to Demon In Charge of an evangelical church in the Northeastern United States. Here, with apologies to C. S. Lewis, is a recently discovered copy of correspondence describing the temptation of Easthampton Community Church (ECC).
